Boston transportation infrastructure - cycling?

Virtually all children in this country arrive at school by bike. So do their teachers, and the parents. Wonderful cycle paths make this possible as you can see in this video of a new housing estate in Assen.

Would you vote to have some of the $750 Billion economic recovery dollars spent building transportation infrastructure for cycling as a way of traveling on local trips in Boston?

(Thanks to David Hembrow of Assen, Netherlands for the video.)

...which is why you see Mumbles and others championing the whole bullshit "rental" model instead of dropping money on bike lockups.

Also, bikes interrupt the revenue stream of the state and local government. They don't:

  • pay gas tax (42 cents, or at the moment- about a 30% tax!)
  • get parking tickets ($25-50)
  • get speeding tickets ($50->)
  • feed parking meters
  • need $50 drivers licenses
  • need $30 inspections
  • need $50 registration
  • have excise tax
  • get taxed much on the sale end (bought used often, easily brought in from out-of-state)

Why, bikes are COMMUNISM, people!
