Here's one reason for poorly maintained commuter-rail trains

Some workers at a Somerville repair shop were busy playing video games and watching porn, the Globe reports, adding one worker was also charged with spending his shift at a bar he owned.
Hmm, their little den sounds kind of familiar. Oh, yeah! Those homeless guys living in that South Boston warehouse had a similar setup.

MBCR employees v. T employees
Without favoring or disfavoring privatization, I have to say that it is a real argument for it if MBCR is able to discipline or dispense with these folks more efficiently and effectively than the T would have been able to. I wonder if it will bring that Weld-era debate back.
It's no different.
MBCR has to deal with the same union politics and policies as the T, which highly favor the union and the employees. These guys will be back at work collecting overtime in no time (after a couple of weeks of unplanned paid vacation).
Never mind the homeless guys,
remember the staties that had a full gym set up inside one of the big dig ventilation buildings?
or the state workers who had
or the state workers who had a similar man-den on one of the bridges across fort point channel downtown a year or 2 ago (and probably still do).
So did the State Police
... when they set up a man cave in a Big Dig vent building.
