If you can't spell the name on your ID, you might want to just give up at that point and leave the liquor store
Boston Police report arresting a West Roxbury teen on charges he tried using a fake ID to buy some booze at a Readville liquor store last night - after he allegedly stumbled over the name, fled the store, then came back and threatened a clerk who refused to give back the wallet he'd left behind, the one that had his real license in it.
Police say that the West Roxbury scion, 18, attempted to use a fraudulent ID card shortly before 11 p.m. at Richard's Wine and Spirits, in Wolcott Square:
The clerk examined the card and became suspicious of it. The male was then asked to spell his last name, to which he could not do. The individual became nervous and fled the store leaving his wallet on the counter. Shortly thereafter, the suspect returned in order to retrieve his wallet. The suspect threatened the clerk several times attempting to get his wallet back. The suspect again fled the store prior to the arrival of the officers.
Police say a witness pointed them down Hyde Park Avenue, where they allegedly found the kid and arrested him on charges of possession of a false identification card and being an underage person attempting to purchase alcohol.
Innocent, etc.

I always laugh when my friends get turned down at bars and liquor stores for not being able to failing to recall the birthday of the ID owner... and then get the ID's back from the bartender or clerk.

While it's fun and all to laugh at these kids, the clerk's refusal to give back the wallet constitutes theft and I hope he gets punished for it. "Oh the kid deserved it!" No, he really didn't. Equal protection under the laws, folks. Fairness is a cornerstone of a free society.
How would the clerk know?
How does the clerk know that the wallet belongs to the kid if he doesn't even know his own name???
Evidence
Confiscation of evidence is not a crime.
maybe he said "I'll give it back to your Mommy"
....or to the cops.
Maybe the clerk told the kid, since you can't identify yourself, I'll give this back to your parent or legal guardian if they come in here to both prove, and admit to, being related to your stupid ass.
Or I'll just turn over the evidence of this 'theft' to Officer Friendly.
The only thing being stolen is this kid's common sense.
It's "Wolcott Square"
Not Walcott.
Yes, yes it is
