Very Funny Guy

Arnold Stang was a very funny character actor. His best role, in my opinion, was as one of the gas station attendants (in a gas station where Jonathan Winters runs amuck and destroys the entire place) in "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World".

Heaven is funnier now.

Who else remembers Top Cat?

A remarkable cartoon series (has it ever made it to DVD?)

You're right about "Mad

You're right about "Mad World." And the other guy Jonathan Winters tossed around is Marvin Kaplan, who also did a "Top Cat" voice (Chooch, maybe?).

It is a sad day for adenoids everywhere

"What are we gonna do when he comes to?"
"Hit him again."
"Oh, I couldn't!"

That's the very first role I thought of when I heard the news today. (Apparently Stang's left arm is really broken during the scene, and that's why he holds it so strangely.)

He Also Co-Starred With Henry Morgan

Arnold also had quite a reputation as a comedic actor on radio. He was often the foil with Henry Morgan (not to be confused with Harry Morgan of "MASH" and "Dragnet" fame), a major figure in network radio. His voice was as mellifluous as Arnold's was, um, the opposite. (Somewhat similar to Tom Ashbrook's pipes.)

Thanks!

That's a great post. As a voice-over guy myself, I so admire someone like Arnold Stang. I'm so glad to hear that he was as nice off-mike as he was funny on.

Where's E!??

I haven't yet recovered from the Brittany Murphy death, and now this??
