Rash of car break-ins early this morning in Forest Hills

Capt. John Greland at E-13 reports police are looking for somebody who broke into at least nine cars in the Weld Hill area, possibly after 5 a.m. - the last time a cruiser patrolled the area. Only change was taken, even though some of the cars had GPS units in them, he says:
Whoever did the breaks is liable to mention it to others about the GPS's left in the vehicles.

We got hit
In talking with a neighbor, he said he just leaves his car doors unlocked for this reason. So they steal some change? You don't have to get your window replaced.
I worry about if an unlocked car is stolen, that maybe the insurance company wouldn't pay because of my negligence. But some policies make it clear that negligence is only leaving the keys in the car or leaving the car running.
locked doors
there is no way they can know that you left your doors unlocked, car thieves carry tools to open your doors.
The way they know is pulling
The way they know is pulling on the handle first, which I assume most thieves would do
you'd be amazed
A relative had his car (a coupe) "broken into". They destroyed the top of the door and the b-pillar, the lock, and the small (and expensive/oddly shaped) window behind the door, all trying to get into the car.
Both doors were unlocked (it was parked in a supposedly "secure" garage.)
They also destroyed the dashboard trying to get the radio out, when for $5 at any auto parts store, you can buy a radio removal tool that is not only cleaner and easier, but quicker.
Never underestimate the desperation or stupidity of someone bleeding the state dry (the lot was next to a welfare office.) After all, there's a reason they're on welfare (uneducated, stupid, lazy.)
Really?
Do you know many people on welfare? Because most I know want to be off, but they can't make enough money to pay for daycare plus living expenses, and the only way to get a daycare voucher is by going on assistance. Then they find a job, only to be told the daycare voucher gets pulled once they make more than a little over a hundred a week. And since that's not enough to pay for daycare...
i meant the insurance companies
they couldnt know if your car door was unlocked when your car was broken into unless you tell them! as for the broken doors and ripped out dashboards? amatuers. in my younger days i knew kids that could slim jim the door open and have your radio out in two minutes with minimal damage.
But with if they decide to
But with if they decide to pull out your stereo system as well?
