Rush job for Marian Walsh's senate seat

RushWest Roxbury state Rep. Mike Rush plans to run for Marian Walsh's Senate seat next year even if she decides to seek re-election, State House News Service reports.

Why? Rush thinks she's running on fumes; pointing to her acceptance, then rejection of a good paying job with the Patrick administration earlier this year. There was also her rumored, then never-happened judicial appointment last year, which led to a secret meeting between handlers for Rush and sometimes Westie rival, City Councilor John Tobin, over who would run for her seat.

In recent years, Rush and Walsh have not exactly gotten along. He's represented the 10th Suffolk District since 2002.

He's got my vote. Walsh is a hack.

Having gone to college with him and having followed his political career closely I have to say that this guy's just a putz. I wouldn't trust him to govern a McDonald's PlayPlace.

if we assume they are both hacks (which I don't)
would you rather have a democratic hack who has liberal values or a
republican hack who has to pretend that he's a democrat to get elected?

...unless you're looking for a power trio from Canada.

He was so unapolagetically Republican in college I had to check the picture to make sure he was the same putz.

I only hope his social skills have improved.

anon,

Do you do anything else except post on blogs all day? Talk about lack of social skills. Looks like that college education your received is really paying dividends.

Anon,

I've been looking around this site a bit recently. You must really have no life at all because all I see is you on here posting all the time. You must really have a lot of free time on your hands.

Looks like the people of the 10th suffolk totally disagree with you because they have elected the rep 4 times now. That district is very politically active from what I understand and have read so they know what is going on and elect who they think will do a good job.

If you think you can do better then I would suggest you run for office instead of posting on blogs all the time. Put that so called education of yours to work.

Mike Rush is simply a Republican in Democrats clothing. He knows he would have never been elected in this district as a Republican so he changed his party affliation in order to run and win. He never votes for the Democratic citizens of this district. In my conversations with him, he has always turned a deaf ear to my concerns and does not represent my values and beliefs as a Democrat. The fact that he has such a good chance at taking Walsh's Senate seat - mostly because people in the district fail to scratch the surface when it comes to Rush's true beliefs is sad and scary. If you want a Republican to represnt you in the Senate, then for God sakes vote for a real Repbbulican and take a miss on Rush. He's not who he claims to be and thus is much more dangerous than someone who at least has the gumption to stand up for his/her beliefs.

Hey, its the "Rush changes parties to get elected" guy. What took you so long? Miss a Google Alert or something?

The district as a whole is conservative dems not liberal. Maybe if you scratched the surface you'd see that. He's exactly who he claims to be and the people of his district know that. This area of the city is very knowledgable about who they elect and are very active in the election process. Turnout in elections there is always above average. This guy comes from a hard working family, serves in the military, votes against sales tax increases, votes to protect the environment, helps senior citizens, etc, etc, etc. Is he perfect? Nope. But no one is. He votes for the Democratic Citizens of his district every day and that is why he was re-elected to serve the people of his district.

I'm sure everyone would love to know what your concerns are.
