Somerville's other big mass-transit project

Somerville Voices alerts us to a design meeting on Jan. 12 about the planned $50-million Assembly Square station on the Orange Line. Key issue: Whether the T will build one or two entrances to the station.

Knowing the T, they'll build two entrances and then permanently close one (as with Arlington and Hynes Convention Center/ICA).

I hate that those two are

I hate that those two are never open. Boo, T.

RE: Arlington Station

Isn't the plan to re-open the Berkeley entrance once station renovations are completed on that end of the platform? Or am I just imprinting wishful thinking?

In Berlin...

...all subway stations (and there are hundreds in Berlin) are required to have two exits. This rule came about after a major fire at Deutsche Oper station.

I'd hope the T would realize the importance of this IN ADVANCE of a catastrophic fire.
