Why our subways are better than New York's

New York's subways apparently play music from that awful musical, West Side Story, when they start up.
Listen to the audio file (link in the little box thing on the left side of the page); it's something good.

The Green Line Breda cars make a unique whining sound as they
accellerate, although it's just random sound and barely noticeable from inside the cars.
However, IMO, if the MBTA subway lines ran as frequently during rush hour as the MTA's Manhattan trunk lines (Broadway and Lexington Avenue service) do, I wouldn't care if our cars played the theme from Gilligan's Island.
Why stop with the theme?
roadman, we're practically there...
... seems there's about a 50/50 chance of a given ride on the T turning into a three hour tour...
The Signals Started Acting up ...
The jam-packed cars were stuck!
Given the indifference of the maintenance crew
The commute would be f#*%ed.
The commute would be f#*%ed.
The Tuvan throat-singing buses of Forest Hills are back
And whistling all over Roslindale and West Roxbury.
Awful musical?!
You're lucky that independentminded isn't here to take you to task. :)
*sigh*
You didn't think I was posting this *only* because it's interesting, did you? ;o)

Their subway cars make a really cool sound when they start up, or at least they used to. Probably partly because they run on tires (!). But it sounds kind of like a rubberized intro to Also Sprach Zarathustra.
