103.3, 105.7 a bit late with early Xmas music this year

Boston Radio Watch reports WODS went all-Christmas, all-the-frickin'-time today, just minutes after traditional Xmas-till-you-drop rival WROR. Both were beaten this year by a Providence station.

Considering the way things had been in the past, with earlier change of format, this seems almost kind of reasonable. Maybe enough of us have complained to make a small difference? Nice, if so.

I don't understand why you people get "irritated" with this.

1) You do not pay to listen to the radio. It's free.
2) You can change the station.
3) You can turn off the radio.

Seriously, what's the deal? Do you get mad at NBC if they have shows you hate? Do you get made at TLC for turning into an all-reality station?

Let me guess, you are going to rebut #1, telling us all how you send "lump sums of money" to these radio stations, so we know how charitable you are. Sheesh!

4) You are a loyal listener to the station's ordinary format, and don't want to have to tune away from it for two whole months because they changed their format to 'all Christmas all the time'.

I think what people are reacting to is the appearance of Christmas stuff way early all over the place- everywhere. And its commercial in nature- often eclipsing Thanksgiving entirely.

Frankly I like Thanksgiving now more than Christmas- which seems to represent one obligation after another- not to mention a burden on my wallet. Thanksgiving- I make the creamed the onions- and I'm done- that's my job for the family dinner. Christmas is a CHORE now. Other than the day itself- the weeks before it are just one long chore after chore.

So far, the people who find this sort of thing irritating are registered here under known names or pseudonyms. We're willing to take the heat for our opinions. Meanwhile, those saying it's no big deal are anonymous trolls.

I really hate that they do this BUT at least they didn't start on 11/1 like last year. Why cna't they just mix in xmas carols w/ the regular music? WHY ALL DAY ALL THE TIME? :/

Albany had an all-holiday FM station when I drove through upstate New York two weekends ago. I don't mind all-Holiday from 11/1, it is a great seasonal format and I don't think it takes away from Thanksgiving at all.

If it wasn't making money -- it wouldn't be on. My wife love it. As we cooked dinner last night -- we sang nearly every word to every song.
Ho Ho Ho!
