Are supporters of South Boston dog park playing ruff?

The Herald reports a resident near the Bark Park who complained about the noise and bags of dog poop on his lawn found his tires slashed and an expletive scratched into the side of his Jeep.

The crime sounds more of the result of driving/parking like a masshole than complaining about barking dogs.

And why does a real estate agent who works from home need two very large vehicles?

It seems irresponsible for the Herald to even print this. The guy's only evidence that the vandals had anything to do with the dog park is, uh, he can't think of anybody else who could have done it? And instead of just letting the police handle it, he had to call up his favorite pun-loving local newspaper to drag the dog park through the mud.

Almost sounds like another Ashley Todd situation. Were any of the letters carved backwards into the car?

Spenser, put the pieces together will ya? How many times has someone vandalized your car? It sounds reasonable to assume (and please don't get into that old argument about "assume") that this guy has been targeted by some dog-lover. Dog-lovers can be A-holes too you know. Wake up. The guy wants some peace and quiet, he makes a complaint and then some A-hole takes action against him. Seems pretty simple. Oh, and "J", since when is it against the law for someone to own 2 larger cars? What universe do you live in? "You...what do you do? A realtor who works from home huh? Hmm, let me see...since I am the Overlord I will tell you what you will drive. So, here, give me your two large cars and take this bicycle instead."

.....because they show people houses. I don't know why they need two of them, nor do I know whether the person lives alone or not.

Real estate agents take their clients in cars and show them properties. That's why a "smart car" or a bicycle is not a good option for them.

Probably because they want them? Why do you need to waste time commenting on the internet?

Because he wants to and it is his right to. I never reply or comment but stop hating.

He's the pissy neighbor and someone got fed up with it. Seriously, he has to be lying about the noise [and probably the poop]. I walk by several dog parks on my way to work and there's nothing loud about them.

Someones just mad that he's getting a little noise through his window at 10am and can't sleep late. And by little I mean what any reasonable person who lives in a city would expect.

While vandalism is wrong, I feel little sympathy for his ilk. They make horrible neighbors.

Let me preface this by saying that I was raised with large yellow labs and that I'd never subject a dog like that to living in a city like this--I'm not sure it would be fair to the dog.

I live right around the corner from a dog park in Somerville. While it provides a great place for 20-something young professionals in thick-framed glasses to wear skinny jeans, discuss "This American Life," and exercise their substitute children, it's also loud (normal barking plus the yelping when somebody's "friendly" terrier mix stops being friendly) and foul-smelling. On top of that, the dog park takes up space that children in the neighborhood used to play--true, most of the park is still usable for normal recreation, but this really seems like a case of misplaced priorities. Nobody held a gun to anybody's head and made them own an animal that needs room to run in the city with the Northeast's highest population density. It's a real testament to the dog owners' willingness to make noise and twist arms that the park exists in the first place.

Any time I've questioned the need for the park, let alone the need for more dog parks, area dog owners will glare at you like you've come out in favor of mandatory school prayer. These folks are true believers, and dogs are a key part of their enlightened, urban lifestyle. I've heard the term "Dog Nazis" tossed around before and I'm inclined to agree.
