Beware the trees

Tree downDowned tree in the Public Garden today. Photo by Andrew Abbott.

Yesterday's nightmare out of South Station due to a downed tree in Hyde Park was only the beginning. Over the past hour, trees have fallen the Red Line near JFK, Truman Parkway in Hyde Park and Storrow Drive outbound just past the Longfellow.

We live on one of those streets lined with giant sycamore trees; I can't help worrying that one is going to try and sneak in the house for a nap on the couch.

Stupid wind, go away!

This is what happens when we lower taxes. Our tree infrastructure gets neglected. We need to re-enforce those trees before they fall.

I drove by when the limb was hanging over the parkway. There was: 1 firetruck, 1 Boston Police cruiser and wait for it...3, count 'em, 3 State Police Cruisers! Now I know what to do the next time drag racers go tearing up Truman. Simply cut down a tree limb and toss it on the Parkway!

Downed tree in Public Garden was due to his spiderman-like pug named Brutus, who leaps from branch to branch in search of squirrels.
