Black Falcon Pier going to the dogs
By adamg on Tue, 10/19/2010 - 6:16am
Jane Fulton, owner of the dog hotel chased away from E. 1 St. by neighbors and city officials, will open where the neighbors won't object - because there aren't any.
Fulton says Fenway Bark will be opening at 88 Black Falcon Ave., right next to the cruise-ship terminal. Pampered pooches will now be able to enjoy the ocean breezes as they romp around th 20,000-square-foot facility.

Dog bark
No one drove her out of Southie it wasn't zoned for a kennel and oh by the wat neither is Black Falcon Ave any business within the EDIC/Massport wter front area must be MARITIME related. Dog kennels are not unless the dogs are going to be used as rescue swimmers....
A little bit of knowledge...
To: "Dog Bark", you are working with a little bit of knowledge, which is a dangerous thing. First, the zone in which the business was to be located, does allow kennels in the zoning code. The Zoning Board ruled in favor of the business because they were an allowed use, and that's why they won their case. So, you were 100% wrong on that point.
Where you were slightly correct was that Fenway Bark needed to be in a maritime related field. The rules are that Fenway Bark needs to be in a business that simply supports the activity of the port. For example: a sewage treatment company that pumps the sewage from the holding tanks on the ships when they are in port, is considered a support company, or a wholesale food distributor who provisions the ships is a support business. The most obvious support these people will provide is boarding for the pets of the cruise ship passengers. Mass Port loves anything that drives more business to the cruise ships.
Yeah right!
A year from now, let's see what percentage of their business comes from people going on a cruise.
