Thanks so much for this. I've been trying to help my baby brother figure out his parking situation for tonight and this is a total lifesaver.

Park on even side of street because winter starts in an even-numbered year. (Of course this last part isn't on any signs. sigh)

With all the people away for the holidays - especially those who didn't have the foresight to not park on the arterial roads, this is going to be a mess (and great for the city coffers and private towing companies.) Even on non-snow-emergency roads, so many parked cars left until people get back...

Could someone inform the Globe that NO, a snow emergency doesn't mean "parking is banned in most neighborhoods"?) Why, if only the city had a website where idiot reporters could check their facts. OH WAIT:

"During a snow emergency, don't park on streets with signs declaring "Emergency Snow Artery" or "Tow Zone - SNOW Emergency.""

Also, lots aren't open just "to downtown residents." They're open to any Boston resident with a parking sticker.

"He asked the public to contact the city hall emergency center at 617-635-4500 if they see power lines down, trees branches falling or unusually dangerous snow conditions."

Yeah, I'm pretty sure he didn't. If you see downed power lines, you call 911 or the utility company, or both. You don't call Mumbles.

Does this mean residents of Boston neighborhoods that don't have permit parking can't get the snow emergency garage discounts?

Yup, because then you're just a visitor, or a insurance and tax swindler.

is busy, but not crazy. Same at the Belmont Shaw's. Still plenty of milk and bread at both!

Why not #snOMG instead?

People kept asking me yesterday what tag I'd be using. I didn't know, so I asked. People came up with a ton of cool tags. I went with the boring one because it was unique to the area, whereas people in other areas were using snOMG and the like.
