Campaign roundup: How do you ignore the biggest political story of the day?

You're an editor for a metropolitan daily. Which story do you put on the front page: Jeff Perry and the strip search or Barney Frank lending his campaign some money? If you're the Herald, you go with the latter (don't forget to throw in some stuff about how Frank is "panic stricken") and ignore the former (save for a Margery Egan column declaring Perry is a cretin).

Wicked Local covers a debate between Mike Rush and Brad Williams, running to replace Marian Walsh in the Suffolk and Norfolk state senate seat. NorthEndWaterfront.com interviews Frank Addivinola, Jr., the Republican running against incumbent state Sen. Anthony Petruccelli in the 1stSuffolk Middlesex district.

The Globe covers a gubernatorial forum on senior issues. The Herald calls Richard Tisei a flip flopper because of a vote he cast ten years ago. The Globe reports Tim Cahill soldiers on.

John Edward makes the case for a "No" vote on Question 2, which would repeal the state law that tries to get towns to allow affordable-housing projects.

Punditocracy: Joan Vennochi says anybody who votes for Perry is a cretin.

Imagine if Perry were a Democrat. The Herald front page would have to be published in 256 colors on paper which was three feet wide by six feet long. The font for the headline would be immortalized in the Guinness Book of World Records.

or gay. The Herald, and the GOP in general, constantly make reference to his sexuality when they are bashing him, which they have done long before the financial crisis, so its not about that (just another excuse).

The NY Times has an interesting piece today about an ad Frank's opponent has of a woman dressed as Frank dancing around. Its not surprising how hateful and bigoted the GOP is, but how in your face they have become is.

If only he had "Camelot or (a) family dynasty" to blind people to the truth. Would anyone care to wager if Ms. Vennochi ever voted against Senator Kennedy?

If this asshole did what he did (or didn't) in a situation involving the daughters of any given psychophantic Herald commenter, I'm sure they would not have him as a candidate.

They would have shot his ass a long time ago.

I live in the 10th District and for the 15th day in a row (and about 15 times before that), I have gotten a piece of mail from the Keating Campaign pointing this out over and over again. He talks of nothing else. I may not vote for Perry over this but Keating will never get my vote.

The Ledger did put in on the front page.

You raise a good point: Most people who live and will vote in the district don't have to rely on the Herald for coverage of the race (as Dan Kennedy notes today).

Still seemed like an odd thing for the Herald to ignore - the district is as close to Boston as Frank's. Granted, the Globe broke the story, but that hasn't stopped the Herald in the past from covering something.
