Can't a lady clip her toenails in peace?

...coffee and a morsel for breakfast.

But it is remarkable in an everyday way, isn't it?

Eww. Sure, nasty to look at, but far nastier to do this on the T! When you clip, you can snip skin and leave it open to infection. Yuck.

that's so inappropriate, glad I don't have to use the Green Line

I remember once being in Rami's and someone whipped out the clippers and started chopping away. I learned three new Hebrew obscenities that day, and I thought I had known them all already!

is she also on a cell phone?

I don't think so - she's got both hands at her foot.

pressing a cell phone to their ear with their shoulder while doing other things with both hands. I see the practice quite frequently on the T and elsewhere. Fortunately, however, I have never seen it done by someone clipping their toenails.

I've certainly seen what you describe, but not in this photo. Her off shoulder isn't close enough to her ear. I believe that what you think may be a cellphone is actually the cord on her eyeglasses, which is visible at both sides of her head.

My second "at a glance" reaction (after "yuck") made me think she was on a cell phone in the manner I described.

At least on the T, when someone's simultaneously clipping their toenails, talking on the phone and assembling a fajita (sadly, no pic), they're not also nominally in charge of a 2,800 piece of metal at 45 mph.

Can we get someone to do similar here, in a style that meshes well with T graphic design? I'd be willing to buy a few.

Last year I was on an MBTA bus when a passenger was cutting her finger nails.

When the driver saw it, he stopped the bus, turned around, and told the lady it was a public health hazard. She could either stop it or get off the bus immediately.

She stopped clipping her nails.

Bravo!, this is what I want more of. T employees need to give out more of the "oh no you didn't!" to villians like this.

I've seen this happen before on the red line... It was gross then... still gross now... People amaze me.

Hi,

This is the girl who took the picture. The lady was not on a cell phone.

I blogged about the incident -- you can check it out at http://www.adventurouskate.com/lady-clipping-toena...

Thanks!
