Chef Chang's packed with people eating their last meal there
By adamg - 1/30/10 - 2:01 pm
Paul Levy reports he wasn't the only one in Chef Chang's on Beacon Street yesterday for a last meal before the place closes forever (in his case, two last meals - he went for lunch, returned for dinner):
There were so many customers in the last few days that they ran out of Peking duck, the house specialty. A special shipment was brought in, and they spent overnight last night roasting the ducks to have some available today. A week's worth of other supplies likewise only lasted two days. ... The Chan's were genuinely surprised at the outpouring of affection. Those of us who know them are not in the least surprised.

I lived a block away, tried

I lived a block away, tried it once, and disliked it. I'm much more a fan of Beijing Cafe on comm ave, even though everyone I know hates it.
Glad you weren't there, then.

Glad you weren't there, then. More Peking duck for us. Don't remember anyone asking for your dining critique on Chef Chang's last night, either, so walk up Harvard, take a right on Comm Ave and STFU!

I went there last night with 2 friends. 45 minute wait at 8.
I will miss that place - what other Chinese restaurant has lamb on their menu? (lamb+leeks+scallions dish)
We had 3 dishes I will miss = pea pod stems with garlic, the lamb dish, sizzling delight of three
:-(
That's easy

Mu Lan in Kendall Square has what sounds to be a similar lamb dish. Lamb and Garlic in Spicy Pepper Sauce (or some such name). It's beau coup hot, but really good.
Lamb

Jo Jo Taipei also has a couple of lamb dishes, and there are other Taiwanese and especially Szechuanese restaurants around that do as well. Which means that the restaurant replacing Chef Chang's probably will, in fact, have lamb on the menu.
