Cross between a blackout and a brownout in parts of Mission Hill, Fenway, Roxbury last night

UPDATE No. 3: NStar is now telling the residents still without power they could get their power back by 6 p.m.

UPDATE ON THE UPDATE: NStar spokesman Michael Durand reports at 10:40 a.m.: "The outage began when an underground electrical switch failed, likely due to flooding in a manhole on Anita Terrace. 1,600 customers were originally affected beginning around 11pm. We restored power last night to all but 150 of those customers by rerouting power and installing a portable generator. We expect power to be restored to the remaining 150 customers in about an hour."

UPDATE: Mark Corsillo reports at 7:50 a.m. the power is still out near the Fens.

Some residents and businesses in the two neighborhoods lost power around 11 p.m. yesterday. And some lost half their power. PJ Maio tweeted:

Power is out in Fenway near 711 on Jersey street. Have a very bizarre half-powered apt (several other neighsbor do too).

JJ Free tweeted the area around Roxbury Community College was out as well.

I arrived home around 11pm last night to see half my block dead and the other half alive. Luckily, I had power. When I woke up in the morning, my clock was flashing 12:30, indicating that I had lost power at some point only for it to be restored at 8am.

Power is still out for me with the current estimate of when it will return of 2 pm.

Go Nstar! I'll send them a gift basket of all the food I had in my fridge.

I had power at 8am and have just arrived home (Park Drive at Jersey) to find this half of the block out. Nstar says 7:30pm it will be fixed.
