DA drops charges against former city worker charged with convenience-store holdups

The Globe reports the Suffolk County District Attorney's office today dropped its case against Miguel Vargas, 24, of Brighton, on charges he held up the same convenience store twice in December and was involved in planning a third robbery.
But the Globe says the DA's office could re-charge Vargas, against whom it still harbors strong suspicion of involvement in the heists. As a result of his arrest, Vargas lost his job with the DPW when he failed to show up for work, because he was in jail.
Innocent, etc.

Summoning Jake Wark- What happened?
Also, if he's not guilty it sort of sucks that he lost his job, I guess that kind of thing can happen if you can't afford bail and don't have any good friends or relatives who can.
Of course, I have no idea whether he's guilty or not.
OK, so...
They bust the kid, keep him in the can for more than a month, then let him go without charging him. Oh, but they still think he did it.
He loses his job for not showing up (reasonable, I guess from the employer's point of view) now he has no job, no income and no conviction.
So, does he get his job back?
theres usually more to the story when this happens.
More often than not guys like this get arrested because the police get tips from people or witnesses that indicate the defendent actually did the crime. When and if those witnesses decide that they don't want to testify, the case becomes a loser. So the DAs office can still go ahead with the case knowing there is probably a 99% chance of the person being found "not guilty", or they can stop the prosecution and try to get more evidence or witnesses when and if they become available.
