Defunct Roslindale cafe to become another cafe
By adamg - 2/4/10 - 2:26 pm
Workers were busy ripping down the old Square Corner Cafe awning on Washington Street today as they transmogrify the failed sandwich shop into the Rialto Cafe.
The name pays homage to the long gone Rialto movie theater, which sat next door, where the Greater Roslindale Medical and Dental Center is now - and which also gave its name to the Rialto Barber Shop (which is where I heard the news about the new restaurant).
Anybody know what sort of food they'll be serving?

Word is that its going to be a high end pizza shop, with bar and wine license(through creative means with the Boston Licensing Board) modeled on places like Una Pizza Napoletana.

Sounds good, but the space is kind of small for dine in. Anyway, whatever it becomes, I hope it succeeds. That's been a tough spot for many years and just about anything is better than an empty store front.

That sounds great. Do you know when your daughter plans to open? I'll definitely try to be an early customer, and if it's what you describe, you can likely add often to the early part.
Well I wish her luck!
And hope to see it open soon. It's very close to my house, so you can bet that I will be checking it out once it opens.

I am a fan of the small business owner... and a bigger fan of people chasing their dreams! Keep us posted on info!
