Eastie is winning her over

Jenn Martinelli, late of Beacon Hill and Fenway, is learning to love her new digs in East Boston:

... In the Fenway and Beacon Hill there were always ambulances and police cars and fire engines screaming past. We're in a quiet residential neighborhood now and have heard no such thing.

...despite living a stone's throw from the airport I haven't heard a plane yet.

Well now that's interesting.

JP seems to now be directly under the traffic pattern many evenings- traffic off the 27 runway, maybe?

I've never heard the planes, nor have I been punched/robbed since moving here in 2003. My 2 family, 2300 sq foot house 1 block from the T cost me 250K and my tenant who works as an executive in the financial district pays 1100.00 in rent. I know my neighbors and they shovel my walk if it snows while I'm at work. I ALWAYS find parking in front of my house, and my city counselor knows me by name.

Is there crime and trash here, sure there is. It's the CITY. I've lived in Cambridge/Somverville/Back Bay in the past, and have had my share of weirdos. I actually got mugged on Cambridge in broad daylight.

I'll take Eastie over the other over-rated and over-priced Boston neighborhoods filled with busybodies and whiners anyday.

Yes, last night I commented while I was in the kitchen because I heard my first plane while inside the condo, but it was much quieter than even a car driving by on the street would have been.

I know about the punching in the face story, which is kind of a funny headline, but yeah, it's the city - there's crime. However, so far I love the neighborhood and feel a lot safer than in many other places in the city. It just seems more pleasant to me in so many ways.

Hooray 02128!
