New restaurant to help fix Fenway's nacho deficiency

The owners of the Chicken Bone, 1260 Boylston St., are transmogrifying the feathered eatery into a new place called Fenway Cantina that will serve up TexMex stuff.

it's already open

and it's not bad at all. the wings are good, and are apparently the same recipe as the chicken bone's (which were apparently well-regarded). it's not too busy yet, but i hung out there last weekend. they've got a pool table, a good beer list, and more importantly, the only shufflepuck table in the 617.

Shuffle Puck!

That is definitely a draw. Such a rare bar it is that offers that game. I used to play quite a bit at a bar in California that was known for a tremendous beer selection, peanuts sold by the pitcher, and sawdust on the floor. Can I expect the other amenities at this place? If so, I'd consider moving to Fenway just to be nearby.

No alcohol deficiency

With Remy's, that makes five active licenses on that block of Boylston -- HoJo's, the Baseball Tavern (RIP 1270), this, ahem, cantina (beer/wine) and the Ramrod/Machine complex. And a big parking lot where McDonald's used to be, to pee and throw up in.

Wow!

Five? Man, people are going to start mistaking Boston for a city! Better call out the morality police before things get out of control.

You call it like it is, Thank you BRA

Don't forget the black plastic bags of Bradley's Liquor Store which vagrants carry into the Park, leaving bottles and cans among used condoms and drug needles in the Community Gardens.

Anyone remember the Master Plan that called for the *Entertainment Center* of the Fenway to be concentrated only on Landsdowne Street?

I thought this place was

I thought this place was already open? I tried to go there yesterday for lunch and it wasn't open.

Save your time and money

This place stinks...will be out of business just like the Chicken Bone. Plywood booth seating and food that tastes like cardboard.

So you've been there?

Or was that just a statement of principle?

yes, i've been there

I gave it 2 tries...It's not good. Neither was the chicken bone, only their Framingham location gets good reviews. I was hoping this would be an asset to the hood but no such luck!

Tried the Fenway Chicken Bone

Tried the Fenway Chicken Bone a few times.

Inedible.

Seriously, the plywood planters woulda been better choices. I wanted to like em, hell, I went THREE times, that's back TWICE, and still sucktastic.

Last time I was with a crowd, got Nachos 'n stuff. Nachos, how many bucks for cornchips dollopped with goop & run under the broiler, were beyond nasty. How do you ruin nachos? BURN THEM.

???!!!???

Oh, and eating outdoor meant no service. We coulda stripped nekkid & held an orgy on the tables and no wait staff woulda taken notice. Hell, we coulda completed it with a gorefest covering the windows in blood and no employee have thought to ask about more beverages.

Best thing they could do? New owners, ban anyone formerly involved, gut the place & go in as completely different a direction as possible.

ie edible food & something called "service". Not expecting much.

And yet..

the Phantom Gourmet raved about this place. I'm starting to have second thoughts about taking that ride down South to see that crazy Ron Emma!

Went three times

For the carb fan, their mac'n'cheese with buffalo chicken bits was a meaningful experience, but when I had to get up from the table and track down the apparently-preoccupied jock-stud waiter to ask for an order of silverware to, you know, eat with -- never again.

Will it be open all year? The

Will it be open all year? The chicken bone closed from November-March.
