Getting rough in race to replace Brian Wallace

The Nick Collins campaign reports some of its workers had just finished dropping campaign literature in the Polish Triangle this afternoon when they noticed some guys following them removing the fliers from people's steps.

Was this from a news report? Twitter? I find it odd that this is reported as news with a link to a globe article that only outlines the candidates. Isn't this what the Flaherty camp tried with false reports of damaged signs? Didn't Collins work on the campaign thru Local 718?

Surprised this made this site when articles detailing candidates stances and voting records from Dotnews did not? Seems tabloidish from an otherwise great website.

Was a Collins press release.

You're right about the more substantive Dorchester Reporter stories, let me go find those and link to them.

As for Flaherty signs, unless you're suggesting the Flaherty campaign was going out and defacing their own signs, they weren't false reports - I saw them myself.

Article should read "Menino getting rough in race to replace Brian Wallace." By the look of McGonagle's Facebook, it looks like it was his campaign that was responsible. Wonder if Kineavy got a Public Works truck for McGonagle's people to throw the literature into? So much for Mark's pledge to run a "clean" campaign. A VOTE FOR MARK IS A VOTE FOR MENINO! As long as Collins runs a clean campaign up until Tuesday, he should pull out victorious.

One of my mother's comebacks when asked "Who did it?" and I replied "Not me!"

I didn't see the McGonagle campaign named in the Collins campaign press release yet the McGonagle campaign responded on Facebook.

A vote for Nick is a vote for a liar and a sneak. They throw out 11th hour baseless accusations, childish. Maybe they're afraid because their candidate has done nothing in the neighborhood, doesn't vote, & is regarded as pompous and arrogant by most who meet him. Maybe the Collins campaign should first respond to why their candidate for office has chosen not to vote in 70% of elections, before making baseless accusations. He's yet to answer that question, yet again showing his arrogance, he feels he shouldn't have to answer tough questions from mere voters, they're beneath him.

I saw that link Adam in the article.... McGonagle seemed to break his clean campaign pledge in the debate by going negative.... I guess he figured since he already broke it at the debate he could keep going... just makes me question his word...

This is simply desperate tactics from Collins campaign. After the voters realized he doesn't even vote ( he's missed 70% of the elections in his life according to Dot Reporter)he knows he's all done. No Vote Nick Collins didn't even vote this past January, then announced he's running 2 months later, what a joke. Didn't vote for president of the united states while we are @ war, even though he was paid member of Obama's campaign. Do Eddy Flynn and Brian Mahoney realize that when they were on the ballot, Nick didn't vote. These aren't youthfull indisretions, he's missed 70% in his life, im sorry, that's disgracefull. Unfortunately we'll probably see more of this BS from Collins until Tuesday. Does he come off as an arogant in person, that's what I hear.

You seem to know a lot about Collins without having met him. Did you hit all the bullet points McGonagle's campaign gave you?

The Dorchester Reporter reports that now somebody's doing the old prank calls. Also, has more on the lit theft in the Polish Triangle.

Look, the fact of the matter is that Southie is still, and will continue to be a Tribal Town. People voted for Nick Collins simply because he's the "Neighborhood Kid". Nick Collins ran a disgraceful Campaign, up to and including tearing down his opponents signs. He went from taking nomination signatures for Brian Wallace to being a Candidate within weeks. In my humble opinion Nick Collins was by far the least qualified Candidate for this seat. On the Campaign Trail Nicky repeatedly said " I was a Coordinator for Joe Biden", then, he didn't even vote in that election. Nicky underhaddly charcterized his opponents by calling them "Way too Liberal for this seat", or, "part of the Machine". Well Nick, we will be watching your votes closely. Don't worry Jack will tell you which way to vote. That's providing you even make the votes. Not bad huh...going from unemployed living at home with Mommy and Daddy to State Rep?!

It's a shame that Mike Mcgee even ran in the first place. Anyone who paid attention to this race knew it was a two horse race between the two south boston canidates Mark Mcgonagle and Nick Collins. He played the spoiler role and took votes away from Mark.. Its a shame that Mike Mcgee stayed in the race and siphoned votes away from Mark Mcgonagle. It would have been alot closer if the irrelevant Mcgee stayed out of the race and let the people of Southie choose between Southie canidates. The result was Mike Mcgee taking votes away from Mark Mcgonagle.. Mark is going to run again once a city council seat opens up and he is a suberb caniadate.. If Mike Mcgee decides to run for any seat in this town there will be firece opposition. The people in this town whio supported mark will not forget how he played spoiler and siphoned the votes away from the experienced canidate.. mike mcgee made more enemies than he did friends in this race
