If there were a bottled water alert system, we'd be at Red Red Red right now

Score!: Kidlet finds Aquafina 6-pack hidden at Hyde Park Shaw's

Score! The kidlet finds a six-pack of Aquafina hidden behind a basket in the depleted water aisle at the Hyde Park Shaw's around 6:30 p.m. It was so bad people were resorting to seltzer. But nobody seemed to be going for the "nursery water" over in the baby-food aisle.

People were calm and nobody said anything to the lady who seemed to be buying enough water for a small town, but we're beginning to get reports of anger in the aisles elsewhere.

1.Put pot in sink, pour water into pot.
2.Place pot on stove. Turn on stove.
3.Wait until water boils. Wait another minute or two.
4.Turn off stove.
5.Wait until it cools (use fan to assist if you like.)
6.Pour water into containers.

AMAZING.

Why scrum up at the local supermarket when you can just boil the shit out of it! Geeze!

Besides, shouldn't we all have a few gallons stashed in case the water just shuts off? Or our stoves don't work? I trade mine out now and again when the school picnic begs for contributions or we go camping.

What if our stoves stop working. Mine is electric so if the power goes out, I'm screwed as far as having safe water goes. I've been boiling water, but I'm still glad I was able to (barely) get some bottled water as a back-up.

It's times like these that I have no hope for our species.

...there were plenty of small bottled waters in supply.

I bought two -- good water for the a.m. coffee, you know. Seeing the bottles in the fridge made me happy, realizing that my neighbors had the good sense not to act as if the world was coming to an end.

Punches were thrown and old ladies were screaming and swearing up a storm at the BJ's wholesale club in Medford, despite the plentiful supplies of water that could be seen in the overstock shelves.

Well, this explains the lady I saw in Trader Joe's (Cambridge) parking lot this afternoon, trundling 120 bottles of water (5 24-bottle flats) to her car.

Cambridge isn't an Aquaopalypse victim, not being in the MWRA.

That Fresh Pond thingy there in North Cambridge is working pretty good.

It's just across the BU bridge from Boston and Brookline, and also gets a fair number of customers from Somerville.

This is similar to the activities we witness when a snow storm is forecasted. At worst, this is an inconvenience. Granted this is a serious matter. I have boiled a large and a medium pot of water. When this starts to disappear, I will boil more. I don't buy bottled water. I don't understand it. Just marketing,I guess. If you're thirsty, drink beer!

Was there about noon to pick up some other items. Although the stocks in the bottled water aisle itself were mostly depleted, they had pallets with cases of gallon jugs lined up along the rear aisle of the store. A quick glance as a stock boy exited from the back area revealed even more pallets in reserve.

Just got back: They weren't even bothering putting the gallon jugs of Poland Spring or the Aquapod bottles on the shelves - just leaving them on the pallets, from which they were quickly disappearing.

Plenty of gallon jugs, 99 cents each.

Although I found it interesting that although the store was super busy, I didn't see anyone actually buying water! (Including myself: we've been doing fine with the boiling.)

Well, although you can boil and safely drink it, it's awful pipe-y.

CVS last night was interesting. The water was gone, so people were scooping up the 'smart water' product. Which is 4 times the price of seltzer water, which no one was touching. hmmmm. Wonder what some of these folks will do with 7-8 cases of water.

CVS in Boston was well stocked this afternoon, so got 1 case just to have that no-pipe taste. :)
