Ladies, how much would you pay to date a Harvard man?

DateHarvardSq is a new site that will let women pay for the opportunity to hook up with 100% guaranteed Harvard dbags, um, grads, who won't have to pay anything because they're in such demand.

The opposing view from atop Mt. Olympus: Date Harvard Men Without Streetwalking Down Mass Ave.:

In my day, we didn't need fancy websites to help Harvard men hook up with desperate women. We just went to BU parties and chewed with our mouths closed, exclusively. That usually did the trick.

Look, I'm not a female, but let's face it: Women never pay for sex. Any dating website that charges women to play is bound to fail.

as in the good old Tech drinking song: "I am a whore from R******** and I'll **** for 50 cents"

Is that what you meant?

Fake. No Brown woman would join this site except to write an over-the-top denunciation of it.

Maybe Sen. Brown would sign up his daughters without their consent.

Wow, wicked slur against Hispanic women! That's racist! That's racist!

I guess adamg couldn't bring himself to ask how much we would ask for pay to date a Harvard man... you know, with all the Craigslist prostitution controversies and all.

...I am sure we can't all marry lovely people like AdamG who went to Roxbury community and make their living trying to make witty remarks on other people's writing. What a catch. ;)

UH serves an important role in reminding people that, say, the Globe still exists.

I'd bet that the Globe makes more off UH than UH does off the Globe.

And, by way of public service, UH raises the quality of discussion around stories, by having only 13% idiot readers, compared to the Globe's combination of 61% feeble-minded and 18% imbeciles.

You're welcome.

who is the reason you can comment here, you should probably know he went to Brandeis, has been in journalism for many years, and is taken seriously by his professional peers and well as many of us who frequent UHub. As an aggregator Adam does generate quite a bit of traffic for Boston.com as well as the many other websites, for fun and profit. He also fills a niche, news not covered by other outlets ... so fuck off and die pantywaist complainers. (No not you anon @ 2:39pm YOU anon just prior up the thread)

Quite surprising that this site is only for non-Harvard women, looking for Harvard men. What about non-Harvard men looking for Harvard women? (or same-sex options?) Or is this still 1960?

I think that's part of the disgust from various commentaries. Not only doe the orientation of this towards non-Harvardites looking to date people from Harvard seem like crass gold digging (People from Harvard don't want to hook up with each other?) but the orientation of men as the prizes to be dated and women as the desperate gold diggers seems sexist.

The Terms of Service mention "DateHarvardSquare, Inc.", not some LLC. It's unlikely that they'd go form a true corporation for such a new venture. The address given is Harvard student housing. There's no pricing info anywhere on the site, and in fact there's no way for anyone to sign up with payment info - women who register are told they'll be in touch when they're ready to accept subscribers.

This is going to be somebody's sociology project or "artistic statement".

UPDATE: No, it's real, or a very expensive "How do I start a business" project. They have a Delaware corporation:

and a trademark:

If you manage to get disgusted about this, you have a pretty low threshold for disgust, and you probably have too much free time on your hand as well. I think people who buy organic dogfood are morons, but they don't disgust me - I don't care enough.

i find it hilarious that people get so offended and animated on the subject. if you don't like it, don't join... just don't hate because you couldn't come up with it. it's light-hearted and good fun for those interested!

If a non-Harvard man wants to meet a Harvard woman, the only way is to go to a Harvard bar and verbally smack down a pretentious Crimson douchebag who thinks he knows more about history than some random townie. He has to be good, too - no regurgitating Gordon Wood about the Pre-revolutionary utopia and the capital-forming effects of military mobilization - and then sit in the corner and wait for her to approach him with her number. I think that's how it works, anyway.

You need to get out more... and not into a movie theater.

Obviously, Harvard women never have sex before marriage. The lesbians could, but gay marriage just ruined that. Otherwise they're forced out of the school and have to go to some disgraceful lesser school, like Yale.

In all seriousness, the actual motive of this site is obvious, but I guess spermdonor.com was already taken.

Was this somehow James Mitchell's idea?

This sounds like something Mitchell would do?....He is pathetic and a loser...All he does is post blogs about other people's lives b/c his is so pathetic...He writes lies about people and then threatens them with frivolous lawsuits...
