LGBT books at Harvard library vandalized

With what appears to be urine, the Crimson reports.

UPDATE: It was urine, but it was also an accident - somebody peed in a bottle and somebody else managed to knock it over while trying to get rid of the bottle. See comments.

to the Crimson article:

This just isn't right. How would the perpetrator feel if I urinated on 40 books about people who only got into Harvard because they were athletes/legacies?

Meanwhile, what a twisted, angry thing to do. As always, such acts say way more about the perp than about the object of the vandalism -- wouldn't want to be living in that one's head.

Kinda weird that the library staff waited so long before reporting it to HUPD.

Per Harvard PD (see page 2):

Update 12/13/10: Officer was informed an unknown individual urinated in a bottle and left it on a shelf. Another individual accidently knocked the bottle over while attempting to dispose of it.

Comment winner from the Herald:

“At the time it was definitely shocking because it was presented to me as an act of vandalism,” said senior Marco Chan, 22, co-chairman of the Harvard Queer Students and Allies. “Now I feel much more relieved.”

He feels RELIEVED? I'd place him on the short list of urine suspects.
