Laura reports a writer for Boston Examiner lifted, word for word, a recap she wrote of the season opener of the Boston Derby Dames roller-derby league (in which she skates under the name Mona Mour).
She posted it under her name and her photo ... with only a small, italicized attribution at the bottom. No link. No permission.
She updates to report the site did take down the article and apologized.

This place is full of vultures, vultures everywhere...
I had a Harvard student rip off a Boston Phoenix review of mine for the student newspaper. Kind of stupid in the age of Google. I spotted it and complained, and it was swiftly removed, but the student faced no censure for it, though I imagine it's a violation of the College's honor principle.
"honor principle"?
If you're a Harvard student, I think you have to plagiarize an entire book to face any kind of discipline, like that girl a few years back who ganked what turned out be a large part of an entire series of books. Either way, I'm sure none of the offenders had their air of superiority even slightly disturbed by it. After all, they got into Harvard.
Cue snappy comebacks from Harvard types in 3... 2...

Ironic but correct to refer to the Examiner as the site nobody's heard of. That makes it just like its owner, billionaire Philip Anschutz, a low-profile mogul. As for plagiarism, I think most of the web is such. And I'd be surprised to find any original reporting in the Examiner.
