Making a splash in Salem

Jumpers

These guys (and a few female admirers) burst onto the pier at Salem Willows Park late this afternoon. At first, it was like they were playing chicken - one would sort of leap right to the fence and almost jump. But then one of them went over and the logjam broke and soon most of them had gone over the fence.

Of course, all that jumping can make a guy hungry. Fortunately, Salem Willows has plenty of food options:

Hoping no one got hurt...

I must have gotten there right after you did, because I watched a few of them go over the fence. Made me nervous watching it - I was really hoping no one would get hurt.

And the food options at the Willows are amazing. I love E.W. Howe's ice cream at the end of the walkway - their coconut chip blows any other ice creams out of the water.

Good thing that's not in boston

the city council would so outlaw that menu! Unless of course the state legislature got there first and taxed it.

I don't think city coucil outlawed fried food

they just outlawed trans fats - all food-service establishments must stop frying, grilling, or sauteing foods with oils that contain partially hydrogenated vegetable oil. They can still serve the foods fried in other oil.

Um, Stevil?

I think you are confusing your Salems here ... if the Great and General Court took action on this, this establishment would be required to comply same as in Boston.

For now

Anon - And probably only as long as they name the food after political figures. :-)

Swirly - ???? Salem, MA right? The Great and General probably wouldn't look too kindly on the Boston City Council outlawing one of their revenue streams if they decided to add a grease tax to the sugar tax. Hope I'm not giving anyone any ideas - I figure 6.25% (or does Salem add the 0.75% too?) is plenty on my Fried Snickers.

Curley Fries

Were they a favorite of that particular historic figure?

One of these things is not like the others

Fried Oreos, Fried Twinkies, Fried Snickers, Fried Pickles. Hmmm.

Fried pickles

I recently had fried pickles for the first time at Fat Cat in Quincy. I was skeptical, but they are really good.

Curley Fries?

A special recipe from James Michael?
