Mary Z. Connaughton sucks at social media

Joe Chernov reports that after a Connaughton lawn sign came flying off a truck in front of him on Rte 2 in Lexington and impaled itself in his front bumper, he decided to experiment with using Facebook and Twitter to ask for damages, from a candidate who seems to post frequently to both. All that's happened is the Connaughton campaign deleted the picture of the damaged bumper from her fan page, he says.

SO if said pick up truck had a craftsman hammer come out and crack his windshield Mr. Chernov would be contacting Sears for damages? Did he bother to get and pass along any details other than pick-up truck like license plate #. I'm sure with some of this info her campaign could have at least tried to find out whose truck it was. For all he knows it was either someone on the campaign or someone who doesn't like her that was pulling lawn signs and throwing them in the back of his truck. I am not affiliated with Ms. Connaughton's campaign but have had the opportunity to meet her on a number of occassions and she is a fantastic candidate.
I think articles like this are a joke meant to distract from serious discussion.

Millions of people have bought Craftsman hammers (we have one down in the basement). I'm finding it impossible to believe that anybody is going to be driving around with a bunch of Connaughton signs in their truck except a campaign worker or volunteer.

As for the importance of this as an issue? Somebody who has run on a platform of transparency, somebody who plays at using social media to reach out to potential voters, doesn't respond when somebody suffers some damage at the hands of her campaign (however inadvertent; wouldn't surprise me if the driver didn't even know he did a half-assed job of securing his signs)? Yeah, somebody who basically lives in social media might see that as a reason to vote against her.

My car was hit by a huge campaign sign from a certain mayoral candidate on the highway a few years ago. This wasn't your run of the mill sign; it was a 4 x 6 wooden sign that was on the roadway and was kicked up by a truck in front of me. It caused over $2500 damage to my car and I'm very lucky it didn't come to through the windshield. When I called the campaign manager for this candidate to report this and ask to help with my deductible ($500), they asked if I had the sign. Which I didn't because I would have to drive several miles back around in a damaged car and cross four lanes of traffic on the hopes that the sign was still there and I could put in my car. After that they essentially laughed in face.
