Masshole forces little kids onto frozen street

Masshole

Nathan Spencer reports the driver of this van just up and left, blocking at least five school buses attempting to deliver students to the Mary Lyon School on Beechcroft Street in Brighton this morning, forcing the principal and teachers to walk the students from the buses to school.

Nice shot of the license

Nice shot of the license plate. I hope police were informed?

Nearly an hour later, there's

Nearly an hour later, there's a cop directing traffic. Neighbors have been coming outside to tell backed up cars that the driver is still nowhere to be found. I totally picked the right day to take off from work.

Stay tuned as the drama in Brighton unfolds!

Wait...

So there's a car blocking traffic, and the best thing BPD can do is send an officer to direct traffic? I'm sure if they call around to other major cities, they can get an idea of how to remove illegally parked cars. I think they are called "trucks that tow cars" or something along those lines. I've heard rumors of their existence.

Or they could call the Parking Enforcement Division. I know first hand that those guys know how to tow cars.

ya right

Maybe he should just wait in his car while the towtruck comes. You assume he didn't call a towtruck?

Additional Info

FYI, the owner of the car was pulling out of her driveway when the car became disabled. A neighbor helped her push it out of the way of traffic and a police officer responded and directed traffic until AAA arrived.

Wouldn't it have made more sense to

just push the car back into the driveway it came out of instead of leaving it blocking part of the street?

This is in my 'hood...

Should I slash the tires of the van if it is still there when I get home? Or would that do more harm than good? (To the kids that would have to walk in the street, not the driver. F them!)

Towed?

Why wasn't this immediately towed for such a bad parking job?

it's a one way street too

On top of that, it's a one way street, and the driver is facing the wrong way.

Is the car stolen?

If it's parked so badly on a one-way street, my first thought was the car was stolen and just dumped there by a joy rider; either that or some drunk thought he did a perfect parallel park job. For those on the scene, keep us updated!

Would be my guess

Note the positioning of the license plate ... kind of, um, ad hoc?

Any bets that that license plate is not related to the vehicle wearing it? It looks like a front plate lost in a snow bank, but it might be off a different stolen vehicle or off of a wreck. The damage to the plate doesn't jibe with it being on the back and sort of taped on.
