I would have slapped that phone right out of his hand too, good for her.

She may have very well given him bunk directions, but most adults (the ones who've taught me how to be an adult, anyway), when confronting his situation would have had that voice saying "I thought she said to take the other train. I could have sworn she did, but maybe, just maybe I'm wrong." They may have approached her about it upon seeing her, but the tone would have been respectful and quizzical, "Did you say to take the xxxx train?". I wonder what his tone and manner was when he saw the worker though, because my approach doesn't typically generate harsh invectives in return.

Love his impersonation of sassy black woman though, shaking his head and all. This guy needs to stay in providence until he can learn to read a train schedule, map or illuminated sign.

If the conductors actually did their jobs, too. The "customer service people" in the stations and on the phone seem to know only their local spaces. So far this fall I have seen two blind people end up on wrong trains because they were misled by T personnel and the conductors weren't around before the train left to ask.

Well maybe this guy did.

Customer service jobs suck.

You don't want to deal with crappy customers with attitudes when they know/think that you put them on the wrong train and wasted 2 hours of their time? Then don't get a customer service job.

You have to deal with crappy customers? So what? You don't get to lay your hands on them when they get mad at you. Yes, even if it's totally moronic why they got mad or they're wrong about what you said 2 hours ago and they're about to take your picture.

Quite a few of the MBTA customer service agents are medically disqualified bus or train operators. If you've got a bad ticker they don't want you driving a bus, but you can still stand around a station all day. So they may never have wanted a customer service job, or at least one that's 100% customer service, but have no choice now if they want a job at all. That doesn't give them the excuse to hit someone (even if 95% of the general public might want to hit the guy as well), but it does sometimes explain part of the attitude.

Having worked in customer service, let me assure you that 95% of people working in customer service would rather be working somewhere else. I hope you realize that not everyone has the luxury to choose the ideal, path-of-least-resistance job. Sometimes, people have to just take a crappy job and deal with the implications, and it's usually not fun. Your silly "well, they chose it!" argument is as foolish as categorically blaming unemployed people for their plight.

It really is fascinating to learn how many people believe that physical violence is a good response to people not taking your potty mouth well.

This is something you should have learned in elementary school. It is sad to hear that your teachers failed you so badly.

I hope the woman is identified and assault charges are filed.

More of a 3 stooges slap.

It might be bold, but I'm going to go with my gut and say he was totally asking for it. I'd slap him, too.
Sorry, but you have a god damned iPhone and you still can't figure it yourself? Poor you.

Would you also say that if a man started smacking around a woman, because your gut told you that she was a bitch and deserved whatever she got?

I'm gonna go with my gut and say that the answer is probably "raging sexist".

I'd be willing to put myself at risk of a slap from an MBTA employee for doing something stupid on the T so long as I can be immunized from any liability from slapping one of them each time they do something stupid. I think that I would be giving a lot more than I get. Happy Slapsgiving, everyone!

I'm wondering why a guy who was trying to ride commuter rail from Back Bay to Providence showed the TV cameras an *Amtrak* ticket from Providence to Boston (the one with his name on it) and a Zone 2 commuter rail ticket?

His ticket was for a Saturday. The Amtrak train he took was at 1:30 PM. The next commuter rail train wouldn't have left Providence until around 3 PM.

As far as the Zone 2 ticket, I don't know. That only gets him about as far as 128. He might have intended to buy "2 tickets" and gotten a "Zone 2 ticket" instead? He might have also been going from Providence to Back Bay and then turning around and taking Back Bay to some other line like Worcester to get off in West Newton. So, both of the tickets shown were for his afternoon travel. Then in the evening, when he wanted to go home, he got back to Back Bay and was given bad information on which train would be the next to get him to Providence.

But his biggest problem was trying to use commuter rail on the weekend.

I wonder if Bill Griffith drew a storyboard about an MBTA employee slapping an iPhone out of Zippy's hand for the live-action Zippy the Pinhead movie. A little bleach and some Manic-Panic Tigerlily and this guy's a dead ringer.

It may not be ok, but looking at this guy it looks like he deserved it. I'd love to get her side of the story.

these comments are crazy. most of you flip out about anybody working for the t doing anything! so this bitch assaults a customer and its all jokes? would the same jokes be coming if the genders of the people involved changed? is it because the guy is effeminate that makes it ok? strange.

If you really want to be alarmed: UH intellect is above-average for the region. It's no wonder that this city is so broken.

It looks like a big pink palm on the side of an iPhone-deprived hand.

What did the five fingers say to the face? SLAP!

So many people have commented that he deserved it, or that they would have assaulted him too. I don't get it. Is it because he has an iPhone? Or that he appears to be gay? Why is there so much hate, and stupidity in this world?
