No dummies allowed in I-93 HOV lane

The Globe reports a woman got a ticket yesterday when a trooper noticed she was driving in the HOV lane on the Expressway with a mannequin, rather than the required second person.

Channel 4 did this story first yesterday. Hilarious.
They have pictures of the mannequin.

How she got caught

The cop is a fan of DJ Droopy Drawers and knew the octogenarian scratching wizard wasn't supposed to be back in Boston for at least 3 weeks.

I mean, if you're going to use a mannequin, the least you should do is put its arms down below the windows. LOL.

In the mid-1980s, there was a similar incident

that happened in the I-93 southbound HOV lane coming in from Somerville. This was before the old Charles River crossing was torn down to make way for the Zakim Bridge, and the trooper that enforced the lane sat at the left-hand ramp to the Tobin Bridge northbound (as I recall, if someone got caught violating the 2 person rule, they were pulled over, briefly detained, and then forced to take the exit ramp to the Tobin Bridge instead of re-entering I-93)

What ultimately gave the driver away in that case was that he rigged the dummy (dressed as a female) to wave at the trooper every time he passed them.

Wait...

I thought this only happened in sitcoms
