Old Colony rotary in South Boston suddenly popular among Milton teens; city aims to change that

The Boston Licensing Board today warned the owner of Kippy's South, 295 Old Colony Ave., she's on thin ice after police arrested a kid from Milton who drove up with some buds to stock up on 40-oz. bottles of beer.

A Boston police detective told the board this morning the underage drinker went into the store with a bad fake ID but never had to use it because he wasn't asked for one. Police say nearby residents have complained about kids buying alcohol at the store, which had its license suspended for four days in 2009 and two days in 2006 for selling to minors.

The licensing board decides Thursday what to do about the latest infraction, on March 27.

"They just caught one, how many more have gone through your store?" board Chairman Daniel Pokaski told owner Andrea Nguyen. "Because the kids have a better network than anybody else I know; they all talk."

Liquor store is owned by an Asian family now.

Nice people, but they have very little grasp on English. Probably losing something in translation with the board.
