Police hunting pack of men for barbershop shooting that left one with gunshot wounds to the face

Boston Police report arresting a Jamaica Plain man in connection with a shooting at a Tremont Street barbershop last night and that they are looking for as many as eight other men who might have been involved in the incident.

Manuel E. Martinez, 23, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling and carrying a dangerous weapon. However, he was not charged as the guy who shot a customer in a barbershop at 1029 Tremont St. in the face around 7 p.m. The victim was rushed to Boston Medical Center and is expected to survive, police say.

Police say Martinez was detained by Northeastern University Police and a private security guard at 7 Sussex St. after they spotted him trying to hide there. Police say that "the detained suspect had been apprehended after officers observed him running with a group of six to nine males possibly exchanging gunfire due to the fact that officers there heard the sound of gunshots and observed flash of gunfire." Police say witnesses saw Martinez running with a gun at chest level and that they found his gun at 5 Sussex St.

Last night, one resident reported hearing three gunshots.

Innocent, etc.
