Police: Would-be burglar done in by early riser on Dot. Ave.

Boston Police report arresting a Dorchester man on attempted burglary charges early this morning after, they say, somebody living near JJ's Irish Pub and Grill, 1130 Dorchester Ave., watched him go around back and then heard a series of banging noises.

The banging came from Dennis Reddy's attempts to kick the bar's rear door down, police say. Officers arriving around 5:21 a.m. caught him with a pry bar, a saw, bolt cutters, a hammer, a long screwdriver and a pair of gloves.

Reddy, 57, was also charged with possession of burglarious tools and trespassing.
