I'm super allergic to cats... so... I wouldn't be able to spend more than a few minutes in that store :(

There's a window cat on South St in Jamaica Plain near the library. I have no idea what the business is, but I know the cat.

Gris is the window cat at Bauer wines on Newbury Street - basically a gray version of the one in the picture. If you drink wine even a little and speak a tiny bit of French, you'll get the word play.

I can't recall the tale of how Gris came to Bauer, but isn't it something to do with being shipped overseas in a crate of wine?

Yes, actually that rumor is true! When he was just a young kitten, Monsieur Gris smuggled himself in a crate of wine to escape emotional abuses and oppression he suffered by the owners of a fromage store he used to belong to. As an additional tidbit, he surprisingly prefers reds to whites.

I had no idea Gris escaped from a cheese shop... how interesting! He certainly has a good home at Bauer.

I'm pretty sure, at least. My dog loves that window (and the treat bakery 2 doors down, too).

The cat on South Street is in a real estate office I think.

I think that is Ivy insurance at 32 South.

Sounds right. She sprawls right up against the window. I saw her get up recently for the first time, and it was to get brushed.

... likes to hang out in the porno section looking at pussies.*

*Disclaimer: This is a LOLCAT joke. I have no idea if the shop carries any porno. And, if you're offended by the 'pussies' part of it, complain to the writers of Are You Being Served?

His name is Ivy. He is a rather portly short hair domestic orange cat. He is a 9 year old male that was adopted from the Angel Memorial Pet Shelter. He is on a diet and is down to 18 lbs. This cat has the best temperment; he is a big friendly pusscat. Come by
and say hello.

We wanted one where I worked ages ago, but the owner was worried about said cat peeing on our copy of the Nuerenburg Chronicle.

Seek Books in West Roxbury adopted a rescued cat a couple months ago. Fittingly for a scifi bookstore, his name is Asimov. All white with one green eye and one blue eye and half an ear missing. He wasn't very social at first but now he's very friendly if you pay attention to him.

Boston Book Annex has (I hope it's still present tense) two bookstore kitties. One of them (Guthrie) will stumble up to you and start licking you like a freak before you've been properly introduced. The other one (Woodrow) has something resembling manners. They're both very nice cats.

Diskovery in Oak Square (a used bookstore, despite the name), had a couple bookstore kitties wandering around the shop. One was a very friendly black cat named Magic, and I can't remember the other's name. Not sure if Magic is still around--I think he was 17 when I last visited a few years ago!
