It works, but why go with Brighton when Allston has a much greater reputation regarding live music. He should name it Rock City Music Hall or Allston Rocks, or some such. Or, as Will LaTulippe suggests, Haper's Ferry is a fine name. I have plenty of good memories of nights spent in that bar.
Based on what I'm hearing coming out of various basements in the neighborhood, we're at best Allston Shoegazer City.
Allston Music Hall or Brighton Music Hall would be fine. Allston Rocks would be embarrassingly lame, and would attract only those few leftover spandex-and-hair-spray dudes.
Don Law, despite his lack of knowledge of the specifics of neighborhood nomenclature, has generally done well with his clubs, and a new venue of his would likely attract artists that people actually want to go out and see. I repeat: the fact that the best HF could do for a Saturday night in October was a friggin' Grateful Dead tribute band is at the root of the club's problems. Law's bookers could actually get somebody interesting in there.
Kind of an uninspired name, but I guess I'll take it as long as it stays a music venue with similar acts. Rock City Music Hall would've been kind of a good name, though.

it's in Allston but it's on Brighton Avenue
so I'd say the new name works fine.

At least we now know why the current owner didn't want to renew the lease with the management of Harper's Ferry.
Jesus Christ, Don Law
How long have you been in town? It's clearly in Allston. And why on Earth would you change the name?
