Lying to us already!
Notice the first headline equating reconciliation with the "nuclear option", even though one has nothing to do with the other, as regular Maddow viewers will note. And what choices we now have for civilized debate at the nine o'clock hour ! We have Michele (with one L on Facebook!) McPhee, Michael Savage and now, the king of right wing screamers, Mark Levin. Can't wait!

If the Dem Cong get to refer to a party line measure as "bipartisan", I don't see why everybody is getting their panties in a wad over inaccurate terminology.

Liberal radio writer Donna Halper helped Rush get started...she alerted the program director of her Cleveland station as to what a great band they were. Oh, the OTHER Rush...yes as we've aged we've gone from smoking joints to taking Joint-ritis (though I haven't heard those ads lately) and gone from listening to Rush to...listening to Rush
Conservative or at least center-right talk has done well here in Boston; there is some libtalk on 1510 (doesn't show in ratings) and you could probably say NPR too (they do, and do well, at 90.9 and 89.7). Glad to have Beck, Rush, Hannity, Levin et al

Last time I looked, WXKS-AM was at 1430 KHz, not 1200.

Some people may be surprised
Some people may be surprised about the limitations on AM 1200's signal, even though it's a 50,000-watt station. The much-maligned Federal Government allocated certain frequencies for use with such powerful transmitters back in the 1940s so people living far from major cities could hear news reports during WWII and afterward. The stations operated with few, and in some cases NO competing outlets on the same or nearby frequencies, usually in the more desirable portions of the AM dial. Boston's 50KW stations then were on 680, 850, and 1030. Today, there are stations in Massachusetts on 650, 830 and 1060, which would probably not been allowed in those days. Nowadays, the FCC permits 50,000-watt operations on most of the frequencies on the AM dial, with the caveat that antenna systems must be designed not to interfere with less powerful neighbors on the crowded AM dial. Thus, what is now WKOX and will soon be WXKS-AM 1200 utilizes very short, thus inefficient towers, and orients the output from Newton through Boston and East to the Atlantic Ocean. (By comparison, WRKO-AM's towers just north of the Burlington Mall look like three Eiffel Towers...the WBZ-AM towers seem to hover over Worlds End in Hingham. The AM towwers are hidden by the surrounding trees in the sum mer!)

The Dominican radio station that is/was around that station was REALLY weak.
I used to put it on once in a while to practice my Spanish and was amazed at how sucky the signal was.

Coast to Coast AM!
Dude, I'm so excited. WRKO (that crapbag of a radio station) took Coast to Coast off the air a couple months ago and replaced it with rebroadcasts of Howie Carr. I was livid. i wake up sometimes in the middle of the night and cannot fall back asleep, so Coast to Coast kept me "company." i could listen to tales of astral projection and crazy consipracy theories. George Noory and Art Bell are awesome because they just let people talk without berating them or calling them nutjobs, which actually makes me smile in a world where if you don't agree with someone or you sound 'weird' you're ripped to shreds.
i hope this frequency comes in at our house. right now it's all latin musica... i may not care for the whole rest of the format (and i am generally a libertarian, but i hate rush and hannity et al) but i loves me some coast to coast. yippeeeee!

Sasquatch called on the West of the Rockies line and asked me to let you know that WRKO didn't take E.T. off the air; the parent company Clear Channel moved the show over to their AM 1200 station.
