Shepard Fairey's supporters want local police to know he had nothing to do with his new stencil in Central Square

Geoff Edgers reports on the new work; Fairey has apparently had enough experience with the interiors of local courthouses.

That wall (that wood is Central Kitchen) is some kind of official graffiti location the last couple years. You see people updating it in broad daylight. It's grungy and I bet it encourages graffiti everywhere, but it's blessed. I don't know whether whoever put up the Fairey stuff had permission from the City to use that official graffiti location.
Makes sense...
Who WOULD want his name associated with such derivative, bogus, crass, and commercialized "street art," anyway? You can't blame the man.
Maybe the person who took the photo that homeboy "borrowed," the person who actually created an image and didn't lazily plagarize one like a 7th grader in study hall trying to trace Wolverine from his favorite comic book, will step forward to take credit instead.
This guy makes Warhol look like Van Gogh. His crap all over Somerville Ave. reminds me of those dramatic black and white decals of 80s-fabulous ladies that adorn the windows of the area's finer hair salons. Seriously, I'd really like to one-up him by taking one of his images, adding another "happy little" AK-47 or grenade Bob-Ross-style, and then slapping my logo over the logo that he slapped onto somebody else's work. I figure all I'd need then is the gutlessness to look in the mirror everyday and call myself an artist and legions of tat-sleeved, horn-rimmed dittoheads to revere me like I'm a god.
Shepard Fairey
Others have tried making works reminiscent of his by modifying photographs in a similar style.
Shepard Fairey has sent his team of lawyers to deal with them. Because not only does he steal other people's work, but he is a terrible hypocrite as well.

The cops in Boston go after Fairey for a couple of stickers...
...however, the dumbass who plasters Dorchester/Mattapan with his "Who Is The Sultan?" stickers for his "music", the cops let that mofo slide.
Rodeo Church
Not to mention the Rodeo Church and Mornin' Old Chum stencils all over Allston. You can't read half of the traffic signs at Cambridge & Harvard Streets through the stickers, but hey, Councilor Ciommo has the Graffiti Busters team keeping Brighton nice and clean, so it's all good.
Ha Ha.
GoldenStache laughs at all of your petty references to graffiti gone unpunished.
