Situation Normal, All MBTA'd Up
Major delays on the Red, Green and Orange lines as rush hour refuses to give up its grip on MBTA commuters this evening - almost as if the trains were determined to give us the sort of delays we might expect if we'd actually gotten a blizzard.
"Watching the slow death of a red line train at Park St.," Danielle Ouellette tweets.
Sarah Hopp adds: "The digital signs at Central MBTA station are announcing delays in all caps. DELAYS MAKE ME ANGRY TOO MR. SIGN."
Katie punches in from the Green Line: "Our operator thanked us for our patience (35 mins from Hynes to Park)....not like we had a choice."
Buck Buckaroo wearily reports from the Florida Sunshine Line: "There was a disabled train on the orange line. It took me fifty minutes to get from Downtown Crossing to Oak Grove."

Doesn't it make you glad you
Doesn't it make you glad you have the good sense to drive a car? ;-)
Nope, I walked around doing
Nope, I walked around doing errands today after work. 4 miles and and about 400 calories burned. It was quite nice out too.
I canceled by employer
I canceled by employer subsidized (they paid about 50%) monthly T-Pass, that I had for more than 4 years, in January and started driving into work in Cambridge everyday. I am so glad to never have to ride on the MBTA again! I promise to slap any public official, or random individual, that even mentions mass transit or high speed rail. Everyone should drive everywhere. Rail and bus transportation just do not work (period).
Have ridden the trains for
Have ridden the trains for years. Very few major problems. All ya'll are a bunch of whiners.

Mass Transit Does Work
Transit works in many other places. That's the problem with Boston... the transit system is so horrendous that instead of fixing it, you all jump back in your cars and give up on the idea of a well-run public transit system. As if that were the efficient, environmentally-friendly solution. "Everyone should drive everywhere." That's Massachusetts in a nutshell. Leave it to the Commonwealth to trample Ted Kennedy's legacy after decades of self-proclaimed piety for a guy who drives a truck. What a metaphor for your selfishness and propensity to jump in a gas-guzzler instead of fix the decrepit infrastructure you already have.
If you morons spent as much money on the T as you did on the Big Dig, none of you would be driving to work. I live in New York City (went to college in Boston), and it takes me 12 minutes to get from Brooklyn to Downtown Manhattan every day. It would take longer to drive.
I read this blog every day to make myself feel a little better. Keep it up, Massachusetts!
Did I get lucky? Guess so ....
I took the Red LIne from Davis to Downtown Crossing at 5:30 tonight, around the same time as these tweets, and didn't encounter any delays. Things also seemed fine when I returned at 8:30.
yeah, it seemed it was only
yeah, it seemed it was only outbound trains - I saw several inbounders pass at Central - due to some signal problems at JFK. hurrr.
Got to Boylston about 5:20.
They were making the ususal vauge PA announcements "Attention Customers Due to a disabled train we are experiencing delays in service", but the platform was not crowded and I had no problem getting to North Station in time to get the 5:35 Haverhill train.
Had a minor hiccup when the faregate wouldn't accept my monthly pass. The CSA saw me and immediately inquired "Zone Pass?" When I said yes, he let me go through the reduced fare gate and stated "For some reason, the passes aren't working tonight."
As a sidebar, when I got off at North Station they repeated the same PA announcement I had heard at Boylston, but broadcast it not only on the Green Line platform but through the entire station. Give the other problems I've just read about, perhaps they decided a "one size fits all" was the best.
.
I waited for 35 minutes at Arlington Station at around 5 for a C train towards cleveland circle. Never came. Plenty of other trains came. I had to take a cab. I hate the T
If you were going towards
If you were going towards Cleveland Circle should have at least taken train to Kenmore or even a "D" Riverside to Resevoir/Cleveland Circle and cab from there duh
bike it
another reason to commute by bicycle, if you can. no delays, no waiting, ever.
