Something interesting happening at Northeastern's Egan Research Center

Ryan Fox is reporting a late-night flurry of activity at the facility off Forsyth Road: At least 11 emergency vehicles, one of them a hazmat truck and one a ladder truck with its ladder extended to the roof on the Ruggles side. Possible formaldehyde leak in the building.

Update from BFD

I e-mailed Steve MacDonald, spokesman for the Boston Fire Department, to ask what happened. He replies:

We were called To 120 Forsyth Street, the Egan Science Center, at 11:09 pm. We found an unknown odor in the building. The Chief ordered all firefighters out of the building as there was no fire. Northeastern had an environmental science person respond to the scene. They knew of no leak anywhere and guided us as we reentered the building. We spent 2 hours checking out the various rooms and found nothing. The odor first encountered dissipated. We did find one smoke detector on the first floor activated.

There was one cleaning person who was in the building before we arrived and was now outside. In addition, 2 security officers entered the building before our arrival and were also outside. EMS was called to evaluate symptoms of dizziness and nausea. EMS ended up transporting 3 people to B&W Hospital to be checked out.

We left the scene at 1:03 am and coded it a smoke / odor scare.
