Things that would be an automatic fail on a driving test

Bad parking

Somehow, a late-model Camry wound up wrapped around a light pole outside Joe's American Bar and Grill on Atlantic Avenue in the North End around 1 p.m., rather than gliding into a parking space.

Meanwhile, over in Allston, there are now delays on the B line, because somebody drove their car onto the trolley tracks.

Drat that GPS!

You can also see the spray-paint sketch lines for the new bike lanes that run from Packard's Corner to BU Bridge in that pic!

Also, that's the wierdest way to run onto the tracks there. They're on the inbound tracks on the Babcock side of the intersection. They either came from Brighton Ave and went left with the train tracks for some reason or took the turn on Comm Ave extremely wide in order to get there.

Most people who drive on the tracks there are taking the turn outbound on Comm Ave (usually intending to switch over to the parking lane) and end up on the tracks at the Packard's Corner T stop itself because they don't swing wide enough.

Yes, I was also noticing that it was weird for a car to run onto the tracks at Packard's Corner in the inbound direction.

There used to be a bollard right at the end of the outbound streetcar platform at Packard's Corner, to keep drivers from running onto the tracks there. Drivers ran into the bollard so often that the city, in its great wisdom, removed it, rather than doing anything to make it even more obvious that cars should keep to the left of that point.

Corner of death

Some years ago a car passed in front of me (as I was stepping up on the curb) and over the tracks while attempting to make the turn onto the carriage road. At an extreme rate of speed, I might add. A few feet forward for me or to the right for him and it would have been an even more unpleasant experience for me.

There is still a small memorial plaque on the corner for a woman who was killed on that corner.

Dicey place, yes, but how this guy wound up on the tracks when he was going the easy direction remains to be seen, I suppose.

Wow, that domain name twitpic is just amazingly apropos.

Another Camry!

Time to ban Camrys, I guess.

coolots are back in from the 80s!

Car v. T will be a common scene in another week or two...

The only thing about this that surprised me was that the car had Mass. tags. The scene would have looked almost normal for mid-late August had the vehicle had those puke yellow New Jersey plates.

Oh well, I guess we just have to wait another week or so.

They have light rail in new

They have light rail in new jersey too you know

I once knew a woman who

actually did get into a crash during her driver's test. Nobody was injured, and it turned out the crash wasn't her fault, but the examiner ended the test right then and there and made her re-schedule it for a later date.
