Writers, editors sought for exciting startup project with just one possible drawback: Your boss will be a convicted drug-running loanshark

Also a convicted tax evader and perjurer.

Edwin Gaeta is currently seeking 3 novelists, 5 screenplay writers, 2 playwrights and one editor, as well as movie, TV and literary agents for his year-old, Nahant-based Pennington Station company - whose product will be novels and screenplays. He says he already has a stable of 12 writers, including "two published attorneys, a seven-times published novelist, an award-winning screenwriter and a past newspaper editor and journalist."

In setting up the company, Gaeta made good on his promise in 1993 to a federal judge about to sentence him to nine years in prison for running painkillers and machine guns and for loansharking. Gaeta told Judge Joseph Tauro he was giving up a life of crime to pursue writing, the Globe reported at the time. Gaeta pleaded guilty to the charges after he sold 30,000 Percocet pills to an undercover state trooper.

In 1998, a Massachusetts state judge sentenced him to a sentence concurrent with his federal stay after he was convicted of 18 counts of forgery, motor vehicle insurance fraud, false reports of crime, tax evasion and perjury. He made $120,000 from Liberty Mutual after falsely claiming a bus he'd bought was stolen and another $3,000 after claiming his Jaguar was damaged by two guys in a pickup who, he claimed, started shooting at him when he got out to exchange papers (to see more, search at that link for "Gaeta").

His ad for writers says you don't have to be a published author for consideration: "WE ARE OPEN TO NOT-YET-PUBLISHED WRITERS, BUT YOU HAD BETTER BE GOOD! WE WILL NOT 'TRAIN.' "

He does not have a stable of 12 writers nor does he have two published Attorneys. He goes around telling people that he is a Doctor when he never came remotely close to a single pre-med class. He lies, just as in this interview, to make his dull life more exciting
