Yeah, turn just past where the McDonald's used to be

You don't tend to think of a McDonald's just disappearing, but that's what happened to the one on Hyde Park Avenue. Don't worry, though - it's being replaced by an all new McDonald's (whose franchisee also owns the Harvard Avenue McDonald's).
And while it's normally hard to feel nostalgic about some twisted plastic tubing, darnit, those tubes are the first play-place tubes the kidlet ever climbed in.

Damn, that happened fast.
Damn, that happened fast.
It was basically an empty shell last week
Probably folded like a house of cards (the floor is still in place, though, so you can still see the outline of where the place used to be).
Pave paradise, put up a parking lot
Oooooo, bop bop bop.
Just like the one near Fenway Park
The one the Red Sox bought and razed; that McDonald's went down before you could blink. At least you're getting a new one; Sox indeed put up a parking lot as part of their quest to turn that part of Boylston into an extension of Yawkey Way.
I went there when I was at BLA!
Boston Latin Academy was diagonally across from it...kids used to go there during half-days or when the teachers didn't want to find them. The food back then (and we're talking mid to late '80s) was much, much better than today's McD's.
