It's not to "encourage others to get out there and perform." (christ, what a jesus complex.)

It's not about anything other than to get attention for herself.

And, oh, by the way, she and her husband, one of the most successful scifi authors around (Neil Fucking Gaiman) aren't exactly hurting for cash. They're probably among JP's richest residents, so that whole blog about how she's not afraid to ask for money, and proud of it? Bich, please.
