Ammonia spill forces evacuation of Hyde Park school

The Boston Fire Department reports Boston Trinity Academy on Hale Street was evacuated and two teachers taken to the hospital as a precaution after "several ounces" of ammonia spilled from a 24-ounce bottle in a closet around 12:30 p.m.
The school's 210 students were sent home for the day as a BFD hazmat team cleaned up the spill.

A Hazmat team to clean up
A Hazmat team to clean up floor cleaner? Now it will be a 'sick building,' and the staff will bitch until the school is shut down.
Just updated the post
With more details on the amount of ammonia spilled.
When I was going to
When I was going to UMASS-Boston during the 1990s, there was a similar spill of cleaning fluid and someone called the fire department and reported a 'chemical smell.' By the time the fire trucks got there, the smell was gone. But not to let an opportunity go to waste, the clerical workers in another building started dropping like flies and had to be taken out in ambulances.
Oh the horror!
I saw a dude washing his windows with Windex Ammonia "D" and he wasn't wearing a Hazmat suit or rubber gloves.
Several ounces of ammonia spilled...
...also known as cleaning the floor.
During one of my more foolish days, I managed to splash ammonia in my eye. I washed it out, and surprisingly to me, turned out to be just fine.
/shrug
BTW: I do not recommend doing this to yourself or anyone else, in case you were wondering.
