The bare facts: Jamaica Plain might get a Naked Pizza
By adamg on Wed, 07/06/2011 - 5:33pm
Naked Pizza, an all natural pizza chain with outlets in Brookline and Brighton, today asked its Twitter followers:
Can we thrive in JP through delivery from West Roxbury?
Ed. note from somebody halfway between JP and West Roxbury: No. West Roxbury already has 12 gazillion real pizza places (and a Papa John's). JP just seems too far away for delivery.

And most don't deliver to JP
Which suits JP just fine, as Primo Brothers, Real Deal, Same Old Place, Slice O' Pie, Zesto's and Ideal more than pick up the slack. Bemoan Greek pizza all you want, but somebody's keeping JP House of Pizza in business, too.
Don't forget
Bella Luna too!
No more pizza places in JP,
please! But we'd love a Flour, a Steve's, a Pho Pasteur, and a real Italian restaurant of our own.
Here here on the real Italian restaurant
Maybe I'm just jaundiced by my upbringing, but it's weird not having an actual, non-take-out Italian place around. You'd think among the quasi-Irish pub grub, pizza joints, foodie fodder, two Indian places, two Thai places (+Cambodian in the case of wonder spice), tapas, Scottish and Latino offerings (RIP La Pupusa), there'd be room for an Italian joint.
Of course, this being JP, we couldn't just have a place that's the equivalent of Carlo's in Allston. It would have to be some cultural tourist's take on Tuscan cuisine that they picked up on a trip to Florence after the reading of Under The Tuscan Sun that changed. Their. Lives. I'm not a Strega fan by any means, but as someone who grew up in an Italian-American household, I sometimes smile a bit when Nick Varano tweaks the local food critics and chefs who think every "Italian" place in this city has to be Erbaluce.
i for one would welcome this
i for one would welcome this place and vett it as an addition to our rotation of Same Old Place and Ideal-- it looks like they are offering something different, and if the owner isn't fazed by the glut of pizza places then why should I be?
I too would love an italian sit down place--there is that place near the fire station just this side of Brookline Village, but something closer would be welcome.
classy italian near JP? - try Delfino in Rosi

no complaints about the further gentrification through pizza?
what will all the "minorities" who want delivered food do with yet more pizza places? can't JP get a delivery Mexican, Salvadoran or Colombian restaurant?
Ahem...
Burritos Pizza = Totally Mexican
