Blogging's a risky business, at least, in Revere

You never know when some crooked cop will punch you in the head.

Naturally, the Herald doesn't say which blog the guy writes, but that's why God gave us Google.

Can we make HGH and Steroid testing mandatory for police officers? There seems to be a lot of Spring 2003 Shea Hillenbrand Mentality in the actions of this "First Responder"

A bad-apple Revere cop awaiting sentencing for lying to the FBI has been locked up, accused of sucker-punching a local news blogger in a Dunkin’ Donuts.

My first reaction was that words 2-3 were redundant with words 4-5, and that is pretty sad. I seem to remember something about some Revere cops drinking heavily and harassing passers-by culminating in a nasty murder a few years back, too.

Roid testing is a start ... but it seems this force has some discipline and entitlement attitude problems that go beyond a single "bad apple".

You know how many times I've watched Medford cops walk out of both Kelly's and Avellino's with their fair share of free meals?

They have this attitude that "we didn't get offered what we wanted in a contract so we do anything we want". It is wearing very thin in the community, and they seem to think that isn't fair somehow ...

Lack of accountability isn't just a Revere or Medford problem, though ... it is a national problem. Revere just seems to be far more prone to newsworthy meltdowns than most.

People act like that up there. And civil service forces towns to hire people from those towns so you are what you eat as they say.

I'm saying this since it seems ok to generalize about groups of people in this thread.

Reading the second half of a comment is just way too hard for a cop.

I think ex-Officer Grifty doesn't need any more caffeine.

Looks like since his departmental roid connection got shut off, he's lost muscle mass. Getting your ass kicked by a journalist. Lulz. That'll be a good conversation opener for his new job washing floors in Walpole.

This will calm him down.

Betcha his buddies on the Revere force noticed the blogger at the Dunkins and tipped him off.

Blogging is more old hat to Boston/Camb/Somerville/etc but the more immediate North Shore - Chelsea/Revere/Saugus/Lynn etc. has been catching up. It's an area where bloggers are sorely needed because the traditional 4th estate is struggling to stay in business and can't keep up, or won't keep up.. or is part of the good ol' boys network or something. It's probably all of the above.

These blogs range from musings and rantings of the barely literate to displays near professional journalism. We need each and every one of them.

I have two blogs.

for the bystanders who did not flee or avoid bearing witness. Props especially to that white-haired fellow, obviously older, about a foot shorter and 50 lbs lighter than either of the tusslers, who stepped between and tried to split them up right at the start of the dust up. No audio, but it seems that he kept trying to get them to calm down and break it up.

He was thrown off the force and now works in a Subway.
