The MBTA put up those cameras
The MBTA put up those cameras and screens for the one person train operation on the Red Line. Since that won't start until January 2012 at the earliest, they probably haven't made fully setting it up and/or repairing it a priority.

I lived in North Cambridge for years, and spent many hours waiting for the 77 bus across the busway from that artwork. It is supposed to be illuminated from behind, but most of the time it isn't. I don't think it's lit up now, but I'm not certain, since I don't go down there very often these days.

I see blue screens of death and other Windows errors on T turnstiles, ticket machines, and CCTV monitors so often that it's no longer interesting.
