Boston set to grab more companies from Cambridge

The Boston Business Journal reports a five-company clean-technology "minicubator" will be moving from Cambridge to the South Boston waterfront.

The news is not necessarily bad for Cambridge, though: All of the five companies are "pre-revenue" and the reason they're being forced out of Boston's Left Bank is because their landlord is tearing down their building for a new biotech facility.

That's fantastic news for all

That's fantastic news for all involved. Five companies stick around in the area, and get cheap and flexible space. Cambridge gets development. Boston gets a crack and young, promising companies - and the waterfront district offers them room to grow both their research and any eventual manufacturing capacities.

Best of all? It's not going to cost taxpayers a dime.

If Boston would simply ease its zoning rules, invest in infrastructure, and have the patience to wait as a new generation of companies matures, it will be splendidly positioned to win the future.

No bribes involved?!
