Can you imagine Maureen Feeney in high school?

Gin Dumcius soberly analyzes the PR mess Maureen Feeney's put her now ex-colleagues in in her frenzied dash to push City Clerk Rosaria Salerno aside so she can start clerkin' it up.

Just imagine if they were all in high school, though. Feeney'd be all "Listen, bitch, that job's mine, now move it!" and Salerno'd be "yeah, bitch, bring it! I'll cut you!" And Mikey Ross'd be waving his arms around going, "girls, girls, don't fight!" while Moose Murphy would just be standing there, happy he didn't ask either of them to the prom.

Given that Rosy is 74 years old, and isn't even showing up for work now, I wouldn't call it 'pushing her out.'

Who's not exactly new to the workplace herself.

The question is: is she going, or is she being pushed? It's not like Rosy could have been planning on another 20 years in the job. Mo Feeney just wants to get in a few years of easy money doing weddings on the city dime - free money!

constituency if you resign your post before your term is over and don't tell anyone.

People are FED UP with sweetheart deals, backdoor deals, insider trading, and nepotism by those in elected positions. Months ago, the Herald highlighted wedding fees, apparently legitimately pocketed, by the City Clerk, and no one in City Hall thought maybe the practice should be eliminated? Did anyone learn anything from the Globe's expose of the Probation Department? Venocchi is right today. It's all about taking care of one's own. Period.

First of all, this information about Salerno taking this money is reported in the Globe or Herald about every other 2 years, it is like they take turns and no one does anything. Everyone just voted in the incumbents who continue this policy. The Globe and Herald endorse the incumbents and they get in.
If people were fed up they would vote these people out.

But they aren't or they would.

What is funny to me is that people are surprised by this, it is right in front of you if you just open your eyes.

We had Maureen Feeney on the witness stand earlier this year answering questions about transparency and how the city council works. We invited the Herald and the Globe and Adam to witness this witness knowing full well that she was going to be the next City Clerk. Do you think anyone was interested ?

Of course not.

You know I was interested: I even showed up at least once but as you know, the hearings kept getting postponed and finally the proceedings started on a day when the entire Universal Hub newsroom was on another assignment.

(Great post Adam!) It's already asinine, but you're completely right. Are they going to come to their senses when someone finally snaps and starts bumping the bastards off? The general attitude of the population of any political persuasion is that a politician is less than what you might scrape off the floor of an orange line car. Being a politician is right up there with pedophile as far as public respect and they think the gravy train will just keep rolling. It probably will for the most part, but at least pretend to be covering it up!

The casino screwing we all just took is a festering cherry on top of the turd cone sundae. "If we were to accept an amendment that prevented us from taking jobs with the casino industry for 5 years that would imply that we were untrustworthy!" No fucking shit asshole! People think you're less than human. They have no respect for you. Before long some fruitcake will snap and is going to make some very nasty headlines. It already happened to Gabby Giffords, I pray we don't witness something equally unspeakable here.

Please if the candidate was nominated from the Oaks Bluffs posse or was a graduate from the left bank of Harvard, the globe would be writing editorials in support, we all know the globe hates conservative Irish Pols who refuse to kiss their smug asses.

a) What are the new technologies, b) what are the latest software available for City Clerks Offices?

The new Boston City Clerk should know new technologies, know the new software for the most advanced setup of services of the Office of City Clerk. What's problematical is that the current City Clerk and the candidate haven't that kind of knowledge.

c) How can Boston get a new City Clerk that will bring the Office of the City Clerk up to date?...

d) How can Boston get a new Assistant City Clerk that will bring the Office of the City Clerk into 2011 ?...

e) How can Boston get a new senior staffer for the Office of the City Clerk that will be expert with new technologies, expert with new software that will advance the services of the Boston City Clerks Office? Not one of the staff of the Boston City Clerks Office is familiar with the new technologies or the new software available for City Clerks Offices.

This guy really gives me the willies. That being said, I would love to see an interview with the guy.

Former Boston City Councilor Yoon would make a great City Clerk who's tech savvy!

Does anyone know if the attorney general is going to investigate allegations that the decision to give Feeney the job was done being closed doors, which violates the State of Massachusett's OPEN MEETING LAW???

Sure, this happens all the time and yes, we did just re-elect all of the incumbents. But many voters are counting on some of the newer councilors to put an end to this type of practice and call for an open hiring process. The recent District 3 results show that Feeney has a small base of supporters in her neighborhood so there will be little political fallout for those that do the right thing.
